Floem is an evocative name which joins the words “flower” and “poem” as it captures the ethereal essence
and refinement of this surface, inspired by the lyrical world of Li Qingzhao, the great Chinese poet who lived
during the Song Dynasty.
The lotus, the sacred flower which symbolizes good auspices in Eastern cultures, comes alive in poetic
verses written 1,000 years ago—and also today, in a contemporary interpretation made possible by the
aesthetics, design and savoir-faire of De Castelli, evoking the lightness of petals through masterful metal
craftsmanship.
In Li-wan Yang and Yuh-Shiuan Liao's design, each petal made of metal rests with grace and precision on
the wall, giving rise to suspended inflorescence: a decorative surface where the organic and three-
dimensional forms of petals seem to dance, creating delicate marks and impalpable reflections which lighten
the texture of the material.
Made to be composed as desired, Floem unites the tones of the DeNuance finish on copper with brass in the
DeLabré finish: a symphony of warm hues and harmonious curves conveys a dream-like sensation and visual
elegance and sophistication.
